Watch out for these 3 emotional signs:
FEAR - Anytime you feel fear, it is an indication that you are faced with something that you are about to avoid.
That you are tempted to avoid.
You must do the opposite.
Healing is experiencing the opposite :)
Jump. Head in.
Eg: You are an introvert who also has social anxiety. Your friend calls you to a party. You feel terror rising. You are tempted to make an excuse and stay home. DONT.
Go to that party.
Have those uncomfortable interactions and practise your social skills.
Repeat.
By doing what you are afraid to do despite of your fear you will develop parts of your personality that do not come naturally to you.
And thus you become an interesting individual capable of being/practising ‘both’ :)
RESENTMENT - Whenever you feel this sense of angry displeasure, it’s your resentment rising.
Feeling resentment means either you want to say NO but you re saying Yes instead.
OR you are not saying something that is on your mind that you want to say.
What you must do next is say exactly what’s on your mind even at the risk of offending.
Develop that disagreement muscle.
Eg: Your manager asks you to take on your coworkers project. You are already overworked by 4 of your own projects and you want to say NO but your knee jerk reaction is to say YES from habit.
This is what you need to do differently.
SAY NO without being rude.
Suggest either taking the project tomorrow or deprioritising/taking off an old project off of your plate.
By saying what’s on your mind you will develop the parts of your personality that is afraid of offending.
But in order to think and be true to yourself, you need to be willing to offend :)
Overcoming resentment helps you become authentic.
INADEQUACY - Self doubt is painful.
Whenever you feel ‘not enough’ this is your indication that you do not possess a quality you value.
YET :)
Your next step is to determine if you really want to develop this quality/skill within yourself.
This is your indication to start working towards developing those set of skills you want in yourself.
Training yourself to be sensitive to sensing these 3 emotions in yourself is crucial to personality development.
